Global pharma giants partner Singapore researchers to boost innovation in biologics and vaccines manufacturing

SINGAPORE – Leading pharma companies GSK, Sanofi and Takeda will partner with research communities from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR); National University of Singapore (NUS); Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) and its innovation and enterprise company, NTUitive; and Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) to boost Singapore’s biologics manufacturing capabilities.

GSK opens first-in-Singapore high potency manufacturing and testing facility for next generation cancer treatments

GSK plc today announced the opening of a new, S$44 million high potency facility (HPF) in its strategic New Product Introduction site in Jurong, Singapore. The opening of the facility was officiated by Guest-of-Honour, Singapore’s Minister for Health, Mr. Ong Ye Kung, and Mr. Regis Simard, GSK’s President, Global Supply Chain. The HPF will be used to produce a key ingredient, which is a cytotoxic component, in antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) to treat cancer. Today’s event also marks 40 years since the Jurong site opened in Singapore in 1982.

SINGAPORE, October 5, 2022 – MSD (trade name of Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, N.J., USA [NYSE: MRK]) announced the opening of a new secondary packaging facility to support the production of vaccines and biologics, including the company’s cancer immunotherapy products.
